Even AI cannot replace it in hiring, it's so simple yet most people don't do it.
Whenever you are hiring, even with AI, start with trust.
People work for companies, but you, as a hiring manager or recruiter, are the face of the company.
Believe it or not, you carry one of the biggest responsibilities in hiring.
More Trust = More Money
As per my knowledge of the industry, I have seen recruiters get from 15% to 30% of the candidate's annual salary.
Here is simple math: If you take a $100,000 annual salary, 15% goes to the recruiter, and you get $15,000.
It all starts with trust.
Cost of Trust Issues with Candidate
I have seen companies have a bond or a contract with the recruiters, which mentions if the candidate won’t stick for 3 months, at least they might have to provide a replacement.
And if your candidate won't trust you, you will spend more money to acquire newer candidates.
That means you will spend more money and never be profitable.
Breaking the Cycle
This might not be the case with HR managers, but repeating the same process of asking the same questions can be redundant.
For hiring managers as well, it's essential to build trust with the candidates.
Best Practices for Building Candidate Trust
Be transparent, build systems and keep the candidate informed.
You should NEVER ghost a candidate.
That's the worst thing you can do as a hiring manager.
Your job is to build confidence in the candidate.
