Hey AI Hiring Pros👋
This was a massive week with some never-before-seen news in AI hiring.

I built a simple AI system called Vara (Vetted AI Recruiting Automation)

It uses AI to empower hiring managers, recruiters, or even solo founders to identify, qualify, reject, and inform candidates at every step of the way.
It helps you save at least 10+ hours per week. Recently helped a solopreneur sort 424 applicants in just under 24 hours (case study)
⚡TL;DR
Deepfake applicants are now stealing jobs using AI-generated video interviews.
1,300 layoffs hit Glassdoor & Indeed as they integrate AI
AI-generated résumés surged 45%, and resume spam is real.
North Korean operatives infiltrated 100+ U.S. firms using fake identities
Legal risks rise in AI hiring
🤔 Deepfakes Hit the AI Hiring Process
Some job seekers are using AI to generate deepfake video interviews.

One in six interviews now involves a deepfake video, where a candidate interviews perfectly via Zoom, only to be someone else in person.
The stakes are real: one firm only realized the deception after the fake showed up on
Day 1. This underscores a serious gap in AI-based hiring tools.
Why It Matters
This isn’t futuristic, it’s happening now. To protect AI in hiring platforms, you need real-time facial-sync and AI identity verification. Without it, you're exposed.
We might see an increase in in-person interviews.
💥 Indeed & Glassdoor Lay Off 1,300 Jobs Due to AI Automation
As per Reuters, Recruit Holdings has laid off 1,300 employees at Indeed and Glassdoor as AI takes over core functions, from sourcing to screening, revealing AI’s role not just in hiring but in displacing HR roles.

Why It Matters
This shows that AI hiring platforms aren’t just helpful; they can replace parts of your team.
Time to rethink your stack and evolve your role beyond routine tasks.
🧠 AI‑Generated Resumes Surge 45%
X user @rohanpaul_ai reports a 45% increase in AI-generated résumés (11,000/min), while The Guardian notes 50% of recent grads now use AI when applying.
Recruiters face 45% surge in AI-crafted résumés.
hitting 11,000 submissions per minute. Many résumés now mirror job-description keywords from simple ChatGPT prompts.

⚖️ North Korea Poses as Remote IT Workers in U.S. Firms
According to Reuters, the DOJ and the FBI recently indicted North Korean operatives for using stolen American identities, via “laptop farms”, to land remote IT jobs at over 100 U.S. companies.
The operation caused more than $3M in damages and siphoned off $900K in crypto and IP, targeting defense contractors
Also, a recent report by the U.S. Department of Justice mentioned, “According to court documents, the schemes involve North Korean individuals fraudulently obtaining employment with U.S. companies as remote IT workers, using stolen and fake identities.“
Why does it matter?
This isn’t just fraud, it’s national security.
AI smart hiring must now include geopolitical threat filtering and identity verification.
If your AI hiring systems can’t spot nation-state work fraud, you’re asking for trouble.
💣 Final Word: AI Is the New Hiring Manager
From deepfakes to resume spam to nation-state infiltration, AI-powered hiring isn’t a trend; it’s a transformation.
You either adapt or fall behind.
